Vincent Torres Named New AISD Board President
Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½, TX—Tonight, Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ ISD’s Board of Trustees elected Vincent Torres as board president. Torres, who represents Northwest Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ in District 4, served as vice president since 2007. He replaces outgoing President Mark Williams.
Trustees also elected Gina Hinojosa, a newly elected at-large trustee, as vice-president and Jayme Mathias, a newly elected trustee who represents East Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ in District 2, as secretary of AISD’s nine-member governing board.
In addition to Hinojosa and Mathias, AISD welcomed Amber Elenz, who represents Central Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ for District 5, and Ann Teich, who represents Central and North Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ in District 3, as new trustees.
Prior to the administration of the oath of office for new board members, trustees recognized and thanked outgoing members for their service:
- Christine Brister, who represented Central and North Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ in District 3 since 2008;
- Sam Guzman, who represented East Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ in District 2 since 2007;
- Annette LoVoi, who represented Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ as an at-large trustee since 2006; and
- Mark Williams, who represented Central Âé¶¹¹û¶³´«Ã½ in District 5 since 2004 and served as board president since 2006.
